It’s one of the biggest, most memorable days of your life, of course you want your wedding day to be as perfect as can be. But it can be daunting putting your trust in suppliers whom you’ve met perhaps just once. Here are some tips to ensure you find a wonderful selection of suppliers and the perfect wedding venue for your big day.
Decide whether you would prefer a specific date or a certain style of wedding venue, then decide what your budget is based on this. Next is finding a wedding planner who you can trust. This will save you a lot of stress both on the lead up and the day of your wedding. They’ll be the person who remembers all the little details and who will use their knowledge and experience of the industry to make your day run exactly as planned. A good planner will also help you prioritise your budget based on your wants and needs.
Chances are, it’s your first time having to liaise with wedding venues and suppliers in this industry, but for your wedding planner it’s part of their day-to-day duties. They will have a whole host of specially selected suppliers whom they’ve worked with previously and can guarantee provide superior service, as well as recommendations on who to avoid.
The excitement of planning a wedding can result in booking the majority of your suppliers within a couple of weeks, but unless you have a timeframe of less than six months, there’s really no need to rush the process. Take your time to consider all of your options for a wedding venue and suppliers, then narrow down based on things like price, location and, of course, availability. Your planner can advise on your best options if you’re unsure.
The day is yours, however, a wedding venue location that is central to the majority of your guests is always preferable. It’s also important that you check your venue of choice is easily accessible by sat-nav or google maps, if not, you can specify directions in your invitation. Consider whether any of your guests will have difficulty with things like uneven floors, for example. If so, be sure to mention this to your planner, who can show you your options so that you don’t have to compromise on the key aspects of your day.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Planners are there to make your dream day become a reality so being upfront with your wants and needs, including your style, priorities and budget, makes their job a lot easier. Those who are passionate about their work will be as devoted to the outcome as you are and will be happy to rearrange any aspects as necessary.
